The petrified forest of Lesvos

By the name forest you might aspect some woods. This might be disappointing because it is more like a dry piece of land with some trunks. But if you take some time to walk around and have a good look you will be overwhelmed by the beauty of these trunks, the structure and colors of the trunks are amazing. The petrified forest of Lesbos was formed from the fossilized remains of plants, which can be found in many localities on the western part of Lesvos Island. The area enclosed by the villages of Eressos, Antissa and Sigri is very dense in fossilized tree trunks and forms the Petrified Forest of Lesvos.

About Lesvos Photo and Photography blog

Anjo visited Lesvos for the first time in 1989 . After that almost every year. The main income of this Island are olives and tourism.
Anjo started this blog in 2015  to share the beauty of this magical place.
At this moment more than 2500 refugees a day reach the Island. Those people need help. The Greek residents are very hospitable and help as much as they can.
From 5-26 october  2015 Anjo will travel to Lesvos. She will post daily  photos and stories about the situation on this blog.
