Melothria scabra or ‘Mouse Melon’ is a tiny cucumber and it looks like a cute watermelon. The fruits are small enough to fit into a teaspoon, yet bite into one and the flavor is unique, pure cucumber with a refreshing tinge of lime. The plant will climb or hang. So place a fence or hang a big pot high. Sow under protection in pots late February to April. Harvest them when they are the size of a grape, but still nice and firm.
